Curtis Lee Newsome's Obituary
Curtis Lee Newsome, 83, of Stantonsburg, NC was born in Wayne County on December 8, 1936 to the late Deacon Tom Newsome and Mother Deartha Coley Newsome. On December 20, 2019 at 11:45am Curt answered the Master's call and departed this earthly life into eternal rest.
"Curt", " Uncle Curt", or "Pa Curt" as he was affectionately called graduated from Friendship High School in 1956. Shortly after, he entered the Navy and served for four years. Returning home, he was gainfully employed at Cherry Hospital for 30 years where he retired in 1993. In his lifetime, Curt has traveled many places with his God- children. He loved sitting in his recliner watching "The Young and Restless" and court shows on TV and lets not forget his DVD collection. Curt was a member of St. James United Holy Church. He was a regular attender of Worship Services and Sunday School where he routinely collected the offering. Curt also enjoyed his Sunday afternoon Walmart trips with Donnell and his end of the month prescription pick-ups with his brother. Afterwards, they would enjoy biscuits at Hardees.
Although Curt never married, he had a very special lady (Juanita Artis) in his life for many years until her death. Curt was a very loving, humble and caring person who loved family. He had a kind heart and meant the world to many. To know him was to love him. Although he never had children of his own, he treated his nieces, nephews and God-children as though they were, including rearing some of them as well.
Curt was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Ray Hardy Newsome and Jarvis Marion Newsome and a sister Dorothy Jean Newsome Elliott.

We know that God is all wise and has a purpose in everything He does. We must commit our broken hearts to Him, who in his own time will enable us to realize that what so ever is best and he is at peace.
