Ms. Dorothy J. Darden, 70, of Washington, DC. Transitioned to her heavenly home on May 8, 2020 at the MedStar Washington Hospital Center, Washington, DC.
She was the youngest child of four children born to Mary Elizabeth Spencer and Lionel Spencer.
She would spend most of her childhood in the Wayne County area before moving at the age of 16 to Washington, DC.
She received her formal education in the Wayne County Public School System.
She was united in marriage to Devon Darden and to this union two sons were born.
She was employed as a Postal Clerk for the United States Postal Service for more than 20 years.
She was predeceased by her parents Mary Elizabeth Spencer and Lionel Spencer, her devoted husband Devon Darden; one son; Devon Darden (aka Rathel) one brother; Oscar Spencer, two sisters: Dessie Smith and Leatha McPhaul.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories a devoted friend Dunval Ornsby of Washington, DC. one son: Emmett Spencer of Washington, DC. two grandsons; Danny Jackson (Safiya) of Weldon, NC; and Christian Pender; one granddaughter; Jiria Pender of Washington, DC. Five great grandchildren: Daniel Jackson,Jr., Devon Jackson, and Dashawn Jackson, and Danasia Jackson all of Weldon, NC.; and Senai L. Mendez of Washington, DC as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
