Mrs. Isabelle Cox's Obituary
Goldsboro - With profound sorrow and empathy, the management and staff of Williams & Ashford Funeral Directors join with the Braswell, Cox and connected families to announce the earthly departure of Mrs. Isabelle Cox. Mrs. Cox passed away at her residence, embraced by her loved ones.

Isabelle Braswell Cox was born March 31, 1952, in Wayne County, NC, to Harry and Rosa Braswell. She transitioned to her heavenly home on March 3, 2025, surrounded by family.
Belle, as she was affectionately known by family and friends, graduated from Goldsboro High School in 1970. She later obtained an Associate Degree in Business from Wayne Community College in 1996 and her Doctorate in 2016 from The North Carolina College of Theology in Wilmington, NC.
Her longest tenure of employment was with the United States Postal Service, which began in May 1995 and ended in September 2011, when she retired after 16 years of service. For the next five years following retirement, she dedicated her time to Gap Ministries College in Goldsboro, N.C., as an Administrative Assistant.
Her walk with Christ began when she was baptized on November 24, 1979, by her then-pastor, Bishop E.V. George of Bentonville Disciples of Christ in Four Oaks, NC. She later became a member of the Mt. Zion Disciples of Christ and Philadelphia Community Church families, where she served in various roles. Belle was a dedicated servant of God and a member of Gap Ministries, where she faithfully served as the Pastor's armor bearer until she transitioned.
Isabelle was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Cox, and leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Anita Michele Cox; a son, Alex Durrell Cox; grandchildren, Mekhi Ty'Rell Howell, Jaylen Alexander Cox, and Alexa Brielle Cox. She was the youngest of eight siblings: Dora Moses (deceased), Ernestine McKinney (deceased), Gladys Butler (deceased), John Braswell (deceased), Mary B. Cox (James), Annie Ruth Greenfield (Carnell), Shirley Jones (Claude), and a host of special nieces and nephews.
