Mother Polly Langston Williams' Obituary
Goldsboro - The Management and Staff of Serenity Memorial Funeral Home join with the family of Ms. Polly Williams, 91, of 703 Isler St., Goldsboro, NC, announce her earthly transitioned on Sunday, November 28 at her residence.
Polly Langston Williams was born on September 4, 1930 to the late Vander Langston and Hattie Langston Harper in Wayne County, North Carolina. She peacefully transitioned from labor to reward on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at her home.
Polly received her formal education in the Wayne County Public School system and was a member of the Central High School Class of 1948. She retired from the State of North Carolina with almost 20 years of service. After retirement, she thoroughly enjoyed being a foster grandparent. She also enjoyed cooking (her specialties were homemade chicken pastry, biscuits and coconut cake).
She was married to the late Charles Williams, Sr. To this union, seven children were born.
Early in life, Mother Polly joined First Corinthian Holy Church in Grantham, NC where Elder Ella Mitchell was her pastor. She served on the usher board at that time. She later joined New Stoney Hill Holy Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. H. E. McNair. There she served the church in many capacities including being a member of the Mother Board, Floral Club, Missionary Dept. and Senior Choir. She faithfully attended Sunday School, Bible zStudy and Worhsip Services until her health began to decline. Mother Williams loved the Lord and never ceased to give Him praise.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Charles Williams, Jr., two brothers, Albert Langston and Willie Langston; three sisters, Macy Langston, Cora Cox and Bessie Etheridge; a son-in-law James Cox.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories and a legacy of love for her three sons: Kenneth (Shirley) Williams of Woodbridge, VA, Albert Williams of Dudley, NC and Jerry "Bo" Williams of Goldsboro, NC; three daughters: Caroyln (Jimmy ) Newsome of Fremont, NC, Helen Cox of Dudley, NC, and Shirley Williams of Mebane, NC; daughter-in-law Gloria Williams of Goldsboro, NC; 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and friends.
