Mr. David Ray Williams' Obituary
Goldsboro - With sincere compassion and understanding, the Management and Staff of Williams & Ashford Funeral Directors join with the Williams and connected families to announce the earthly transition of Mr. David Ray Williams, 66. Mr. Williams transitioned on February 8, 2024, at the Wayne UNC Health Care, Goldsboro, NC.
David Ray Williams was born in Charleston, West Virginia, to the late Lorenzo Gene Williams and Juanita Hazel Williams on October 08, 1958. He spent his formative years in the Philadelphia School district and completed High school at Benjamin Franklin High School. He was so proud to have completed these accomplishments that he would often sing his graduation song Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head by B.J Thomas. His brother Ray loved and would laugh each time he sang this song.
David served in the United States Army for four years. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he returned to Philadelphia and worked as a Nurse Aide. David was employed at the Philadelphia Nursing Home. During his tenure there, he cared for nine patients daily.
If you knew Dave, you knew he loved to party, especially with his brother Ray. He and Ray were the life of the party. If you saw David, Ray was right behind him. In the neighborhood, he was known as Disco Dave, the man on the wheels of steel. Someone was always requesting him to DJ for parties and block parties. David was also known in the neighborhood for his hand carwashes. He was the only man in North Philly who could hand wash and detail your car in about 40 minutes. By the time David finished, your vehicle looked brand new and shiny. He was the best! He loved to play chess often with his brother Ray, who could never beat him. David had an upbeat personality and a go-with-the-flow attitude. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and being a comedian.
On Friday, February 8, 2024, David took his last breath. He was preceded in death by his parents Lorenzo and Juanita Williams, his brother Shawn Williams, and Raymond Williams. He leaves to mourn his daughter India Thompson, his bonus daughter Dominique Holmes, and bonus son Kenneth Rayford; Grand Children Nevayah, Nieirah, Namire, Nuri, Nylise, and N'Yell, bonus Grand Children Kabir, Zaki, Zuhad, Zameer, and Jream; Sisters Debra Williams, Lavinia Williams, and Brenda Williams of Philadelphia; Brothers Johnny Williams of West Virginia, and Billy Weedon, and Floyd McMillian of Philadelphia; and a host of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Services of Love & Compassionate Care have been entrusted to Williams & Ashford Funeral Directors and Cremations, LLC.
