Goldsboro - The Management and Staff of Williams & Ashford Funeral Directors announce the earthly transition of Mr. George Hester, 72. Mr. Hester transitioned at his residence on Monday, December 18, 2023.
George Pugh Hester, age 72, of South Boston, Virginia, died on Monday, December 18, 2023, at his home in Goldsboro, NC. He was born on April 18, 1951, the fourth child of the late Agnes Knight Hester and Robert Allen Hester.George received his formal education in the public schools of Halifax County, Virginia. He graduated from Mary Bethune High School, Class of 1969, and worked at Burlington Mills and then Dollar General until his retirement.
George was a wonderful son and brother who always made sure his mother and siblings had what they needed. He loved watching old classic shows: The Jeffersons, Good Times, and Sanford and Son. His favorite music artist to listen to was Steve Wonder.
George is survived by his loving sister, Hope Davis, brother-in-law Rodney Davis, Brother Michael Hester, sister-in-law Karen Hester, sister Teresa Wilson, Brother-in Law Connie Wilson, sister Vanessa Washington, Brother-in-Law Timothy Washington, two sisters-in-law, Marion Hester and Deborah Hester and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by four Brothers, Robert Tyrone Hester, Roderick Jennings Hester, David Lindwood Hester, and Eric Alonzo Hester, and two sisters, Sylvia McCraw and Rosalind Lacks.
