Mr. George Lee Wellington's Obituary
Goldsboro - The management and Staff of Williams & Ashford Funeral Directors join with the Wellington and Connected families to announce the earthly transition of Mr. George Lee Wellington, 80.
Mr. George Lee Wellington, son of the late Marshall and Amanda Coley Wellington, was born on August 16, 1942, in Goldsboro, NC. He departed this life on October 14, 2022, in Four Oaks, NC.
Reared in Goldsboro, NC, George attended Dillard High School in 1961. George was the fifth child of his siblings. He worked with Waste Industries for over 20 years before going on Medical leave.
Knot, as he was affectionately known, loved watching all western shows, especially Gunsmoke and the Rifleman. He also loved wrestling and watching his favorite football team, the Denver Broncos. He was an avid card player as well.
George was married to Cordelia Waters back on February 14, 1973, and they welcomed four daughters in this union; Nikki, Tomiko, Georgette & April. He would later meet Carolyn Atkinson and give birth to two sons, George (Lee Lee) Atkinson & Jamal Wellington. Knot also helped rear three other children; Lashonda, Rodney, and Laura Atkinson.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall Sr., & Amanda; a daughter Tomiko Wellington, his granddaughter, Tamika Petty and his siblings, Mary, Robert, Thomas, Michael, Susan, and Elmwood.
George leaves to cherish his memories his daughters: Nikki ( James) Bridges of Goldsboro, NC, Georgette Artis (Goldsboro), April (Earl) Newkirk, Lashonda Ward (Carl), and Laura Atkinson, all of Goldsboro, NC; three sons: George (Lee Lee) Atkinson, Jamal Wellington & Rodney Atkinson, all of Goldsboro, NC; his grandchildren; Natalia, Fuquan, Neysa, Sade, Joshua, Jheryhyrrah, Ja'shon, Zipporiah, Ja'Kirah, Lyric, Donte; six great-grandchildren; Jeremiah, Ja'Laila, Ayden, Jalen, Ndiya & JaZarha, all of Goldsboro, NC.; his siblings; Marshall Jr., (Brenda) Wellington of Philadelphia, PA, William Wellington & Billy Ray Wellington of Goldsboro, NC., as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
