Murray Leon Chambers was born to the late James & Georgia Mae Chambers on August 8, 1957, in Edgecombe County. He peacefully transitioned from his earthly house into eternal rest on Friday, October 23, 2020.
Murray received his education from Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools at Rocky Mount Senior High. He attended Willing Workers Miracle Tabernacle UHCA under the leadership of Dr. Dorothy L. Greene. Murray was the jokester of the family. He could keep you laughing. Murray was a devoted father, grandfather, companion, and brother. He loved spending time with his family.
Murray was preceded in death by his parents James Chambers Sr. and Georgia Mae Thomas Chambers; brother George Chambers; sister Denise Williams; two sons Murray Chamberlain, and Maurice Davis; two grandmothers Mary Battle Thomas, Falsetina Chambers; two grandfathers Henry Thomas Sr., Woodrow Chambers;
Murray leaves to cherish his memories; his longtime companion of 31 years Veronica Murphy; 11 children, Craig Lane, Tomeka Bell, Markelius Chambers(Sa'tylejah), Keshawn Chambers, Jaquan Murphy, Aliyah Murphy, Natanyan Murphy, Latanyan Greene, Veronica Murphy, Colye Murphy, Zaona Murphy; 7 siblings, Karen Chavis(David), Antionette Chambers, James Chambers Jr., Reggie Chambers(Renee), Latrice Chambers(Jarrob), Cecilia Chambers-Alston(Eddie); two aunts, Mozetta Thomas, Dr. Dorothy Greene; 15 grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and a special friend Keith Williams.
