Wilson -The Management and Staff of Williams & Ashford Funeral Directors join with the Ruffin and connected families to announce the earthly departure of Mr. Otis D. Ruffin, 61, of Wilson, NC. Mr. Ruffin transitioned on July 24, 2023, at the Mt. Olive Center, Mt. Olive, NC.
Ecclesiastes 3: 1-3To everything, there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven. A time to be bornand a time to die. A time to plant and a time to pluck up that which is planted.Mr. Otis Devon Ruffin, known as "Oatmeal," was born July 26, 1961, in Wilson County, NC, tothe late Richard Ruffin, Jr., and Shirley Ruffin Howell.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Howard & Mamie Artis, Richard & MamieRuffin, uncle Bishop Howard Artis, and his aunt, Mary Howell.
Otis received his education in Wayne County Public Schools. He worked as a brick mason foryears. In later years, he was a resident at Genesis of Mount Olive, NC. All his family and friendswill truly miss him; he was especially fond of his aunt, whom he called Aunt Bunny. No moresuffering, no more pain. Sleep on my son and our brother. We love you but God loved you best.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his mother Shirley Howell;daughter Ornetta Bunnof Newark, NJ; his son O'terron Bunn of Pennsylvania; two brothers: Jeffrey (Melissa) Ruffin ofGoldsboro, NC, and Nicky (Larissa) of Fuquay Varina, NC, three sisters, Kimberly Wilson ofVirginia, Beverly (William) Jacobs of Clayton, NC; Pamela (Ellengton) Artis of Kinston, NC, sevengrandchildren, one great grandchild; three uncles: Bishop Joe Ruffin of Upper Marlboro, MD,Leroy (Frances) of Fremont, NC, and Jesse (Vernell) Ruffin of Wilson, NC; three aunts: ElderPennie (Robert) Harrison of Wilson, NC, Mrs. Dorothy Artis of Fremont, NC, Elder Alice Locuswhom he called (Scooter) of Wilson, NC; two great aunts, Mrs. Maggie Diamond & Mrs ArvisWhite of Wilson, NC; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a long time friend DorisHagans of Wilson, NC.Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal, just the master doing his will.
