Pikeville- The Management and Staff of Williams & Ashford Funeral Directors join with the Fort, and connected families to announce the transition of Mr. Rodger Fort, 73, who passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2023 at the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, Fayetteville, NC.
Roger Lee Fort was born October 6, 1949, in Wayne County, NC to the late Naomi Becton & Robert Fort. He departed this life on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, in Fayetteville, NC.
Everyone who knew Roger loved him. He always loved to joke, laugh, and have a good time. He loved to tell stories of places he traveled and people he met. He was a jack-of-all-trades.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, listening to music, baseball and watching Westerns.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Joseph Williams, David "Frog" Fort, & Eddie B. Williams, Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Dorothy "Dottie" Fort, Pikeville, NC, his children: Coralina Sockwell-Downs (Chris) & Shakera Dunn of Fayetteville, NC. Six grandchildren (TreSean, Tamiya, Caleb, Christien, & Elijah). His brothers, Carson "Cookie" Sutton (Beverly), Pikeville, NC & William "Temp" Sutton (Lillian) of Oxon Hill, Maryland; an Aunt, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
