Mr. Sam Jones' Obituary
Goldsboro - The Management and Staff of Williams & Ashford Funeral Directors join with the Jones and connected families to announce the earthly transition of Mr. Sam Jones, 73, of Goldsboro, NC. Mr. Jones transitioned at the UNC Chapel Hill Hospital on July 4, 2023.
Mr. Sam Jones was the seventh of 10 children born to his mother, Mrs. Bessie Gamble Jones, who preceded him in death. He was also Preceded by 6 of his siblings: Mrs. Lula Mae Mason, Mrs. Annie Mae Darby, Mrs. Hattie B. Dial, Mr. J.D. Jones, Mrs. Sarah C. Nottingham, and Mr. Allen Jones. Sam was also Preceded in death by his son Keon Jones and stepdaughter Tangia Etheredge. Mr. Jones was born on July 20, 1949, and his sunset was on July 4, 2023, at The UNC Chapel Hill Hospital.
In his early years, Sam went to school and resided in Mobile, AL. He relocated to Tampa, FL, in the early '70s. He later moved to North Carolina, his home for the last 30-plus years. Mr. Jones worked for several years with The Salvation Army Ministries teaching Sunday School, working with their food gardens, and helping to renovate houses. He will be remembered for his many selfless acts of kindness.
He leaves to Cherish many Precious memories with his wife, Mrs. Betty Etheredge Jones, two sisters, Mrs. Louise Baymon (Greg) and Mrs. Barbara Sams (Larger). One brother Pastor Levert "L.B." Jones. His children are Mrs. Erica Cox (Prince Cox), Nathaniel Jones, Tony Jones, Lashaun Jones, and Sabrina Jones. Several Stepchildren, Diane Etheredge, Constance Etheredge, Crystal Etheredge, Tabriska Etheredge, and Irish Etheredge. Grandchildren, Jacque George, Ja'Koby Madison, Jacquesia George, Tahjir Elijah Eccleston, Jermaine Etheredge, Curtis Etheredge, Qushawn Etheredge, Rasheeda Etheredge, and Tangia Etheredge. Also, a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends. Including Devoted friends Mr. Al Law and his wife Peggy, Mr. Victor, and also Sam's special friend Glenda.
