I remember Mrs. Artis from the Wayne County Missionary Department for the Baptist churches. She work with Mrs. Thelma Horton and Mrs Cleo Bowden. Rest in Peace.
My sincere condolences to the Artis family. Ms. Bernice was such a sweet lady. I most remember her from my younger days at Hooks Grove church, not knowing that she would end up being my son's substitute teacher when he attended Fremont Stars.I would occasionally see her working in her yard, or just sitting on the porch. She will truly be missed. The family should be able to find comfort in knowing that she knew the Lord, served Him most of her life. So, family continue to hold on to all of the precious memories, and love one another as she loved the Lord.
Mrs. Bernice and my mother worked very closely together in the Wayne County Missionary Union for many years. They attended the Women's Missionary Conventions together. Mrs. Bernice was very dedicated to her kingdom work. A very sweet lady who I admired. She loved my mother and I will always be grateful to her for her kindness.

Mrs. Artis was my first grade teacher at Belfast. I will always remember her kindness and how she would send me and my sister post cards during her summer trip. She was a true class act and a type of teacher you pray every child can have at least once in their lives.
