Pastor Shirley Ann Pigford's Obituary
2 Corinthians 5:1
For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle be dissolved, we have a building of GOD, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
Mt. Olive - The Staff and Management of Serenity Memorial Funeral Home do offer our sincere condolences as we join with the Pigford and connected families to announce the earthly departure and heavens welcoming of Pastor Shirley Ann Pigford.
Pastor Shirley Ann (Davis) Pigford was born in Wayne County on August 23, 1954, to the late Frank and Annie Elizabeth Davis. Pastor Pigford left earth for her heavenly home on November 19, 2021, at approximately 6:50 am at Wayne UNC Healthcare.
Pastor Pigford attended Duplin and Sampson County Schools and graduated from Union High School in 1972. She was a 1993 graduate of James Sprunt Community College with an Associate Degree in Nursing and graduated with a Master's in Theology from Trinity Bible College and Seminary in May 2006. Pastor Pigford worked faithfully at Sunbridge Nursing Home for several years and was presently employed at Wayne Community College, where she taught aspiring CNA nursing students.
Shirley gave her life to Christ in 1975 and accepted the call to preach in 1980. She took this call very seriously and served in this calling under the instructions of God. Pastor Pigford became the Pastor of Gospel Revival Uplift Ministry in the year 2000. She was so devoted to the work that God had called her to do that she gave up her job at Sunbridge and began Pastoring full time in 2011. Before pastoring the flock that God gave her, she was a member of First Baptist Calypso, Ebenezer Apostolic Church, and Holy Ghost Cathedral, where she served faithfully as a choir member, Sunday School Teacher, and Minister. She was devoted to her church family, consistently counseling all of us in and out of service until her passing. Her words of wisdom will forever be in our hearts.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, friend, spiritual leader, pastor, and confidant who had a great love and a heart of gold for people. She treasured family, and if you were around long enough, you became one of her own. She had many adopted sons, daughters, and grandchildren, but she treated them like her own. She loved her pets, working in her yard, taking vacations with family, going on cruises, listening to quartet music, and watching her westerns. Above all else, she loved serving GOD. She always said, "I take counsel from people, but instructions from GOD." One of her favorite sayings in the church was, "WELL."
She was preceded in death by her mother, Annie Elizabeth Davis, father Frank Davis, and her sister Eldress Joan King.
