Raphael Antwon McNair, affectionately known as “Pa” and “Ralphie”, passed away at the age of 39, leaving behind a legacy of strength, love, and unwavering dedication to his family.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Raphael later moved to North Carolina in 1998 with his family. He attended James Kenan High School, where he played football, and later transferred to Goldsboro High School, earning a spot on the varsity football team. A dedicated student and athlete, Raphael graduated with honors and went on to attend Elizabeth City State University, where he continued playing football while studying architecture engineering. He later transferred to East Carolina University to further pursue his academic goals.
Throughout his life, Raphael worked in various roles within the security field, ranging from nightclub security to asset protection. No matter the position one thing remained constant, he was a hard worker, always motivated, always striving, and always seeking new avenues for success.
In 2018, Raphael met the love of his life, Sherniece. Raphael fulfilled every role as a devoted husband. From provider, protector, and safe space for his family. Raphael and Sherniece had two beautiful daughters by the names of Alise Hunter and Raelyn McNair.
Raphael embraced being a husband and father wholeheartedly, mastering it with love, patience and purpose. Family meant everything to Raphael. He cherished time with his loved ones, and always made room for his friends, whom he considered his brothers. He took deep pride in his relationships, so much so that many were permanently honored through his tattoos.
Raphael was also the loving godfather to Kenly Harley and Jrue Boyd, whom he loved and adored dearly.
A true sports enthusiasts, Raphael had a deep love for football and basketball. Proudly supporting the Tennessee Titans and the Los Angeles Lakers. More than just a fan, he was a sports connoisseur. Someone who could hold conversations, educate others, and breakdown sports and analytics and history with passion and precision.
Raphael was the amazing son to Joseph McNair (Blanche) and Michelle Herring (Pordis). The best big brother to Chris (Ruth), Donte (Diamond), and Tyree (Alexis). He also played a vital role as a big brother to EJ and Jasmine McNair. Raphael also loved and adored his grandmother, Estelle and Aunt Bee. Raphael also has a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
His presence, wisdom, laughter, and love, will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know him .
