Raymond Edward Atkinson's Obituary

Raymond Edward Atkinson 76, was born July 25, 1942, to the late Paul and Viola Coley Atkinson. He departed his earthly life on Friday, August 3, 2018, surrounded by family and friends at Kitty Askins.
Raymond was one of 9 children and six of them preceded him in death (four brothers - Swindell, James, William and John D. Atkinson. Two sisters - Glendora Atkinson Barnes and Vauline Atkinson Swinson.
Raymond attended Wayne County Schools and graduated from Central High School with the Class of 1960. He joined Best Grove MB Church at an early age. Raymond retired from Cherry Hospital with 30 years of service and Guardian Care with 22 years of service.
Raymond was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather as well as a friend to all that he became in contact with. He had a passion for sports and attended many games of his daughter and grandson.
He leaves to cherish his memories by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Geraldine Summers Atkinson of the home. One daughter - Donna Atkinson (Maxine) of Richmond, VA. One son Raymond Atkinson, Jr. (Angie) of Pikeville. Four grandchildren - Corey, Colton and Kylie-Ray Atkinson of Pikeville and Demarco Edmonds of Richmond, VA. Two sisters, Mary Atkinson Edwards (Herman) and Sarah Atkinson Frazier (David) of Saulston. A host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
